Abstract

Purpose: This study was to apply pulmonary rehabilitation to the patients with COPD and to find out effects of
respiratory difficulty, anxiety, depression, FEV1, Sa02, and self-care.

Method: The study employed none equivalent control group non synchronized quasi - experimental design. The study subjects were 40 patients with COPD who were 20 experimental group and 20 control group.

Result: There was no significant differences of reducing before and after intervention between experimental group and control group for respiratory difficulty, SaO2 and depression(p<.05). But, there were significant differences of anxiety level. Also this study could not make decision of nursing intervention effects for the variables of FEV1, and self-care because homogeneity of the variables were not identified in before test. For the analysis of correlation among the variables there was a strong relation between anxiety and depression(r=.554, p<.05), between self-care and SaO2(r=.532, p<.05), and between respiratory difficulty and depression (r=.488, p<.05).

Conclusion: This study shows nursing intervention of the respiratory rehabilitation is really effective on the anxiety level of COPD patients.
